CHARGING TIMES
The Volkswagen ID.4 charging time depends heavily on the type of battery. In order to achieve the 250 mile range available within this electric vehicle, you’ll need to utilize home charging devices or access public charging stations located across the world.
When equipped with a L1 120-volt outlet, it takes approximately 50 hours of charging time to go from 0 to 100% charge. A L2 240-volt outlet takes an estimated 7.5 hours while the DC fast charging battery charges from 0 to 80% in just 38 minutes. The last 20% of charging time for the DC fast charging battery takes a bit longer to reach full capacity.
In addition to public charging stations, you can also take advantage of home charging for your ID.4 electric vehicle. Without additional accessories, it’s only possible for home charging for level 1 and level 2 chargers. You can access more powerful home charging with an available 240-250 volt outlet that can easily be installed in your home if you don’t already have one accessible.
The ID.4 is capable of achieving 33 miles of range in about 1 hour of charging (at a home or public L2 charger)(4). Going EV means never getting gas again. It also means thinking about driving differently. You’ll think in range rather than MPG. Instead of filling your tank, you’ll charge your battery. And there are so many different ways to charge your Volkswagen ID.4 electric vehicle.
The best way to charge your Volkswagen ID.4 electric vehicle at home is with a L2 wallbox charger.
Electrify Home offers a home charging solution, purchase your charger and get assistance finding an installer via Qmerit at Electrify Home.

Do EVs really reduce carbon dioxide compared to gas vehicles?
Yes, they can over time, especially when they use renewable energy sources. While EVs do require slightly more energy to build, they can make up that CO2 deficit and then some over their useful lifetimes. Exactly how much less CO2 emissions driving an electric vehicle results in depends on the source of the electricity the owner uses for charging, which varies by geographic region. In many places, electric grids are converting to more CO2-free sources – such as solar and wind – and as that trend continues, the CO2 benefits of EVs will grow. But even at today’s mix of energy sources in the United States, electric vehicles can have a CO2 benefit, as most emissions are lower for electricity generation than burning gasoline.
